A passion for fly fishing brought two friends, Rick Rupp and Bill Matthews, from Bend, Oregon to Lewiston, Idaho and the famous Snake River, renowned for its salmon and steelhead fishing.
We had fished the area many times before but this time we wanted to buy a small property to park a boat and clean up after a day’s glory on the river. However, we found private land on this river virtually non existent but our real estate lady knew of a ranch. We looked, we loved... and we bought.
This property is roughly 3000 acres and has 4 miles of Snake River frontage. We call it Ten Mile Creek Ranch. For years, cows had grazed the land. To correct and restore the land and enhance all of the natural beauty, we implemented the first recorded wildlife conservation plan in Nez Perce County.
It is a beautiful piece of the Snake River and we wanted to bring it back to its natural self. We are blessed to have Bighorn sheep birthing grounds and natural pasture areas for them. We are building our home there to enjoy it all. The house sits 100 plus feet from the river and a salmon spawning ground to boot. Big Horn LLC was formed to create a community of similar kindred spirits with ten riverside multiple acreage lots available.
We expect to enjoy the land and life on the river for many generations to come — and the friendships of our new neighbors.
